Esther moved to Chilcompton in September 2018 to take up the role of Rector of St Vigor’s & St John’s. Although she grew up in Yorkshire, her previous parishes were in Bath and she loves living and working in the South West.
She has a passion to see people of all ages get to know Jesus as saviour and friend and discover the gifts God has given them. When not working she likes to potter in the garden or read a good book.
We welcomed Steve to our parishes in July of 2021, licensed as a Lay Pastoral Assistant until his ordination at Wells Cathedral in September along with 15 other new curates in our Diocese.
Steve comes from a rural farming background and enjoys books, not least the bible of which he has many different versions. Steve also greatly enjoys cricket and along with his wife Jenn, is busy settling into their new home in Chilcompton.
Update: 5th August 2024: Steve has now completed his curracy with us, and has taken up his first post at The Ringwood Benefice.
Freda moved from Harrow to Somerset in 2010. Although a retired priest, she continues to preach and lead services at St John’s.
Prior to retirement, she served in various churches in the Harrow area and was also involved with teaching and training congregations overseas in the area of prayer ministry involving healing and the prophetic. Freda loves to spend time with family, friends and enjoys the great outdoors, as well as relaxing while reading and writing.
Kristin has been a Reader since October 2001 and has been part of the leadership team at St. Vigor’s and St. John’s since 2014.
She is now retired but was formerly a physics teacher with a passion for teaching and learning. Kristin says that she enjoys worshipping at St John’s because she rarely leaves on a Sunday without feeling challenged or touched by God. Outside church, she is interested in the natural world and enjoys reading and various craft activities.
Peter has been a Reader at St. Vigor’s and St John’s since 2014.
He is married to Linda and they have two ‘children’ and five grandchildren who live in Bath and in the USA. His hobbies include following science and technology, family research and collecting vintage computer items, as well as trying to make Christian sense of the world.
