June 2026
Welcome to our June mailing. This is where we share encouragement and inspiration from around the Deanery.
Thanks to all who have sent contributions which give a glimpse of the different initiatives and approaches taken across the deanery parishes to grow inwardly and outwardly.
As always, please distribute this newsletter to your PCCs and throughout the Deanery, as it’s a great place to let others know about what has inspired us and new ideas being tried in our churches.
Synod members, please send contributions by 20th of the month, if possible, including good quality photos for the next newsletter, and any updated contact details to me at msndeanery@gmail.com
Thank you. Kate Mayo
Reminder
Deanery Synod meets on Wednesday, 10th June
at St. John’s Church Peasedown St John BA2 8AA at 7pm for 7.30.
Thank you Rev. Rachel Howlett for providing this Alpha update:
We are thankful that the joint Alpha course has continued to go so well as we reach the half-term break, with sessions resuming next week.
We have a lovely mix of attendees from across the deanery and from a range of ages and backgrounds, meeting in two groups. It has been encouraging to see conversations and connections beginning to grow.
We are also very grateful to those in the Waterside Benefice for their generous hospitality and catering, and to our wonderful group leaders and helpers for all their support and encouragement.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
Prayer at Pentecost in Chilcompton
33 members of the church prayed around the clock to kick off our focus on prayer. The Diocese lent the banner and box of resources, which can be found in the church for the next 10 days. Everyone is welcome to come and pray and explore.
20 years of ‘Soul Food’, 4.30 pm on Sundays, was recently celebrated in Peasedown
Soul Food started when: ‘We wanted to launch a church service that allowed people to experience Christianity in a way that they felt comfortable with. No rituals, no bells and not too more structure. We were keen to show that church worship could be done differently from the stereotypical traditional way that most people expect of the Church of England.
And now, 20 years later, we’re not only celebrating two decades of this ‘fresh expression’, but we’re giving thanks for a growing, vibrant church congregation that is inspired, energised and connected with their wider community.’
Prayer resources are now available in our churches. Please take and make use of them.
