May 2026
Welcome to our May mailing. This is where we share encouragement and inspiration from around the Deanery.
Thanks to all who have sent contributions which give a glimpse of the different initiatives and approaches taken across the deanery parishes to grow inwardly and outwardly.
As always, please distribute this newsletter to your PCCs and throughout the Deanery, as it’s a great place to let others know about what has inspired us and new ideas being tried in our churches.
Synod members, please send contributions – including good quality photos – for the next newsletter, and any updated contact details to me at msndeanery@gmail.com
Thank you. Kate Mayo
Altar Cloth Project – a collaboration between Holy Trinity Church, Coleford, and Bishop Henderson School.
Children in the school’s Worship Team designed and printed four frontals. The church funded the project and church members made tops for the ‘All Season’ altar cloth. It was blessed in church at the school’s Easter Service, which was also attended by parents and church members, strengthening relationships and engagement between school, church and faith.
Waterside Benefice bids farewell to Nathanael
A congregation of 75 in the Waterside Benefice recently bid farewell to their curate Nathanael Worsley and his family before he heads north to take up permanent ministry in Cheshire. Nathanael, who became an influential member of the community, will be deeply missed for, amongst other things, his popularity in the local schools (conjuring tricks illustrating bible stories were always a hit), and his recent leadership of the local Churches Together. Everyone is thankful for all that Nathanael contributed to church life in the benefice and he, Danielle and Maya will be greatly missed.
Prayer resources are now available in our churches. Please take and make use of them.
Our Diocesan prayer for growth and transformation:
Loving God
You alone bring growth to your Church and transformation to our communities.
We give thanks for the ways in which you are already at work in our lives and world.
As we look to the future, send your Holy Spirit to give vision to our planning,
wisdom to our actions, and grace in living and telling your story.
Help our churches to grow in commitment to you, in numbers and diversity,
and in partnership with our local communities in all that gives life,
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Thank you for contacting us. We will endeavour to reply as soon as possible.
